Educated by Art September 7, 2010 D L Keleher, MD The Netter atlas has been known and admired for many years. The late Dr. Frank Netter's special gift as an artist was to engage and direct the attention of the newer student to the essential elements of the subject depicted. Illustrators of scientific subjects have produced some legendary art works in the fullest meaning of art. Frank Netter is high on any list of such artists who have educated the world.
Must have book for Med school anatomy September 7, 2010 antapolar Netter's has to be one of the "MUST GET" book for medical school anatomy course. You can forgo any other recommended or even required books from your school (unless after checking thru and really really found the use for it). Or else, have netter atlas + its flash card + your prof's slides, that's all you need to ace a med school anatomy course. The book has beyond awesome detailed pictures for anatomy. Albeit, it does not have a single ounce of description for any structures which can easily be accommodate with your notes, wiki, and/or flash card. The only other book that could also be a must have but I haven't got a chance to try is Gray's anatomy :]
A keeper September 3, 2010 kdoug This book was recommended by my anatomy professor. Thinking it might be helpful for gross anatomy lab, I bought it here on amazon rather than for a heftier price at the school bookstore. It arrived very quickly and is in brand new condition. After going through it, I plan on keeping it for reference through the rest of my undergraduate studies as well as med school. It's very well organized and helpful to see so many different angles of each muscle, bone, etc. Great find!
A gold standard for learning anatomy but for serious learners of anatomy you need Acland Anatomy DVD August 25, 2010 DrLee (Ann Arbor, MI) Netter's is one of the gold standards when it comes to anatomy. The detail and pictures are phenomenal. I used these to learn anatomy in medical school, but I have to say that Rohen and Acland DVD are the other resources you have to have to learn anatomy in an efficient manner. There are too many anatomy teachers who hand you a list and have you look for the structures on the cadavers, but using Rohen and Acland DVD help in identifying and learning anatomy. The Acland DVD set of 6 DVDs point out the sections on real sections and show you how they correspondingly function with the bones, muscles and nerves.
3rd edition still great August 14, 2010 6achill 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I'm using this 3rd edition for my medical anatomy course. So far it has all the images of the 5th or whatever's current edition. The structures in this atlas are colorful and easy to trace/pick out when I'm studying. I also find it effective to use this along side my older edition Keith Moore. This atlas provides great supplement images to the text. My professor uses some of these images for his exams, so for us it's a must have!...Highly recommended, not to mention the $70.00 I saved buying this one.
